BPTC Module XVI - (Emergency Preparedness and Response)

The module starts by explaining basic concepts of emergency preparedness and response, from terminology to fundamental principles. It gives reasoning for preparedness by describing past nuclear accidents. The majority of the module then covers establishing response capability, detailing functional elements and infrastructural elements separately. The final chapter describes the role of the IAEA in emergency preparedness and response.

The module is complemented by two simple case studies and a complex one, which consists of seven sub cases that can be used individually. There are also 45 multiple choice questions that lecturer can use for the weekly exam.

The textbook contains 86 pages with 122 transparencies for the 1-month course and 201 for the 3-month.
