The question sets which are included in SARIS could be generated in different file formats directly from the database of the software. To do this:
1. Click on the Lifecycles button in the Views group of the Home page and you will get a list of the lifecycles created so far in SARIS
2. Select the module for which you want to generate the question sets
3. Click the Lifecycles tools tab
4. Click the Question Sets button at the External Data group
5. Select the file type of the question sets you want to generate
6. Save in your local drive
Notes: The question setsin SARIS can only be generated module by module.
Introduction: Since SARIS is modular in structure, it is possible to marge different completed modules from different sources (e.g. different standalone computers used by different teams or different lifecycles in the same database) onto one destination (an empty database/lifecycle).
Merging could be done by the following three steps:
1. Create an empty lifecycle [See Section above on creating lifecycles] in your SARIS destination database.
2. Export the completed module(s) from your SARIS source database and save it on your hard drive.
To export the module(s) to be merged to the destination lifecycle:
a. Click the Lifecycles tools tab
b. Select the module you want to export
c. Press the Export button from the External Data group
d. When the Export Encryption dialogue box appears, provide a password if you wish the exported module to be encrypted; otherwise leave it empty.
[Note: If you have provided an encryption password, you would be asked for the password during merging]
e. Indicate where in your hard drive you want the file to be saved.
[Note: Make sure that the exported file is saved as .bin file type]
3. Merge the exported module onto the empty lifecycle created on the destination database
a. Click the Lifecycles tools tab
b. Select the destination lifecycle for which you wish to merge the module
c. Press the Merge button from the External Data group
d. Locate the exported module (.bin) file from where it is saved in your hard drive
e. Provide an encryption password (if applied during exporting) and press OK
Note: When merging is completed, log out and log in again to refresh the cache memory.
Note: If necessary, merging of a not fully completed (i.e. all primary and subsidiary questions answered) module is also possible following the same steps above
Introduction: Any module/questionnaire/lifecycle could also be imported from one database to another database. Importing a module/questionnaire/lifecycle would always create a copy of the lifecycle in the destination database.
To import a module/questionnaire/lifecycle, follow the following steps:
1. Export the module/questionnaire/lifecycle using the steps described in Section 1.2 above and save it in your hard drive.
2. Import the module/questionnaire/lifecycle. To import:
a. Click the Lifecycles tools tab
b. Press the Import button from the External Data group
c. Locate the exported module/questionnaire/lifecycle (.bin) file from where it is saved in your hard drive
Provide an encryption password (if applied during exporting) and press OK
