International School of Nuclear and Radiological Leadership for Safety - India 2018

Objectives: The purpose of the event is to deliver a one-week programme of the School, which is based on General Safety Requirements Leadership and Management for Safety (GSR Part 2). The School will cover topics such as Leadership for Safety, Safety Culture and the Systemic Approach using realistic case studies. The case studies cover a range of nuclear and radiation safety scenarios. Participants will work in groups using an interactive dialogue approach along with facilitators acting as mentors, guiding and challenging participants in learning on leadership for safety.
This is an intensive course, facilitated by senior international experts. Participants will broaden their leadership skills using progressively complex scenarios, through individual study as well as in-class group work and dialogues. This course will provide participants with skills and knowledge that will be useful throughout their careers and contribute to a culture for safety within their organizations and the capacity building efforts of their individual Member States.
The School programme will include a general introduction followed by 5 days of training, which covers: Lectures on IAEA Safety Requirement GSR Part 2 and leadership for safety key concepts; Review of Case Studies covering a range of nuclear and radiological facilities with learning objectives based on GSR Part 2; and Group exercises and discussions on lessons learned on the application of GSR Part 2 as well as leadership for nuclear and radiological safety in practice. The programme will be concluded with an evaluation as well as closing remarks. A detailed programme will be provided to selected participants in advance of the School.
